Press Release

May 15, 2019

Every piece from the eco-friendly and ethical swimwear brand, MAGDAKINEDESIGNS transforms fashion’s tiniest articles of clothing into an empowering and zealous love affair that gives back with each purchase. Designed for the eco-elegant, MAGDAKINEDESIGNS limited edition “Prints with a Purpose” are inspired by vulnerable species and environmental concerns around the world and every purchase gives back to the causes you care about.

MAGDAKINEDESIGNS signature Prints with a Purpose are dyed in an eco-conscious process, fabricated on limited-run productions and printed on 100% regenerated nylon. The regenerated high-end Italian fabrics are made from ECONYL® Fiber, in a process that reclaims old textiles and abandoned fishing nets to create the UV protection, ultra-durable swimwear fabric. And, as an advocate for social justice worldwide, every MAGDAKINEDESIGNS product is then sewn at a small family-owned-and-operated factory in Southern California before being shipped to your doorstep in recycled, recyclable and reusable packaging.

The Latest Collection

The latest collection from MAGDAKINEDESIGNS, Feminine and Fierce, features the resilient Wiliwili flower of Hawaii and the teeth of one of our planets most misinterpreted species, the shark. The two prints are a perfect balance between femininity and fierceness. Fiery-hot oranges are complemented by luxurious deep hues and subtle neutral tones. Using a seamless sewing technique every piece is double lined with regenerated fabrics and 100% reversible. That means more fashion for your purchase and less waste in our landfills.

The latest collection serves as a means to carry out MAGDAKINEDESIGNS’ brand mission; to make a positive difference in the world. In partnership with WildAid, a non-profit based out of San Francisco, California, every purchase of MAGDAKINEDESIGNS Shark Bite print returns a donation to helping protect fragile marine reserves from illegal fishing and shark finning. The floral WiliWili print helps raise funds for the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative in Hawaii to support their efforts to preserve what remains of the quickly depleting dry forests of Hawaii and the home to the Wiliwili tree species.

With ethical and quality manufacturing as a hallmark of each piece, the collection’s styles include clean lines, simple seams and range from minimal to semi-full coverage. Dainty shoulder ties and high leg seams exude elegance and femininity while adjustable "drop down" high-waisted bottoms compliment curves and deliver confidence. Designed for beaching, resorting, surfing, waterfall hiking, or just lounging, the collection empowers you to feel both Feminine and Fierce every time you slip into one of these pieces.

The brand’s mantra, “Bikinis can’t save the world, but the women who wear them can,” manifests itself flawlessly in this new collection.  It’s a swimwear brand made for the elegant and passionate. For the woman who knows her value. For the woman determined to make a difference in the world and for the woman who is both Feminine and Fierce.

In 2017 Magdalena Berger, founder/designer of MAGDAKINEDESIGNS, set out to create a swimwear brand that reverses the social and ecological effects of the fast-fashion catastrophe. Since starting the company in 2017, your MAGDAKINEDESIGNS purchases have helped fund sustainable fishing courses, swimming lessons and ocean stewardship classes in Mozambique, Africa. Your purchases have also helped fund student employee positions in the University of Hawaii Seed Storage Lab and outreach events on Hawaii Island in an effort to stop Rapid Ohia Death and save the sacred ohia trees of the islands.

As we continue to gain inspiration from all the eco-elegant and passionate women, MAGDAKINEDESIGNS continues to cultivate a global community of conscious consumers determined to save the world, one bikini at a time.
